Egyptian Association in Great Britain

Over the years, there has been a significant increase in the number and presence of Egyptians within the United Kingdom.

As their needs and problems have become more complex, the necessity to establish an association to cater for these requirements has arisen.

In the past, certain individuals used to address these issues on an individual basis. These individuals have now joined to form this association.

The association philosophy

To serve the Egyptian Nationals within the United Kingdom without

discrimination against political views religion or personal views.

Aims of the

Association

1. To establish Saturday classes to teach the Arabic Language.
2. To bring together the Egyptian community, specifically the 2nd

native country, through the strongest link; the Arabic Language.

Therefore, it has been decided to form an educational Committee

consisting of qualified scholars in this field This committee will

seek to:
a) Process application forms for registration for the above

courses,
b) Interviews of students to take place to assess their current

levels
c) Applicants will be divided into groups, according to their

current language level and age.
d) Support classes for other subjects at G.C.S.E and at A-level

will be looked into by the committee and provided if when feasible.

Organization

of regular Social Event

A social Activities Committee shall be formed to help bring together

the Egyptian Community. The activities will begin within a month of its

information. This committee will seek to:

1. Organize family trips to tourist, historic and monumental sites

to:

a) Provide recreation to the members
b) To develop cultural awareness to the members and their

families.

2. Sport Activities: the Association shall organize facilities for

sport activities.
3. Social dinner Events: these events will help create a warm and

personal environment between the members.
4. Festive and special Occasions: Egypt is one of the richest

countries for special and historic occasions. In order to strengthen

the ties of the community with their native home, a chance is given to

share celebrations with Egyptian festive and special occasions.

Contribution

to helping solve problems and disagreements

Life is full of problems. Every individual or family has there own

problems, no matter what kind of problem it is. However, the biggest

problem is finding the suitable Body to help alleviate or solve these

problems. Hence, a social is to be formed to address this issue at the

next General Meeting. This committee will start operating within One

week after its formation. Due to the wide variety of problems, the

committee shall be divided into the two following groups:

1. A group to address family problems and disagreement between

Association members.
2. A group to help solve legal and financial problems for

Association members.

Legal, Medical and Financial Consultancy

Its is sometimes necessary to obtain professional advice on one of the

three above-mentioned topics. Therefore, a committee of specialists

shall be formed from volunteer Association members to give advice in

their field of expertise. If feasible, experts may be appointed in the

future. This committee will start operating within One week of

formation.
Employment

Opportunities

Our youth need to gain practical and technical experience to develop

and improve their skills in their area of expertise. This is so to help

find employment easier. Therefore the Employment Committee will be

formed to address this issue.

Wills

Unfortunately death is a part of life. However, many people do not

write their wills, which has caused many problems in the past. It will

therefore become compulsory for each member to have a will, which shall

be stored at the Association, headquarters.

Funeral

arrangements for deceased members

In the case of death of a member, the member’s family may approach the

Association to carry out- on their behalf- the deceased member’s

funeral inside or outside the United kingdom, depending on the prior

wish of the deceased. This issue is dependent on a large number of

members joining the Association, in order to provide sufficient funds.

Organizing

cultural Activities

Culture is a vital of any community. It has therefore been decided to

form a cultural committee to organize lectures, seminars and

conferences in various fields to help nurture, among other things,

ideology and philosophy. Speakers may be within or outside the United

Kingdom. It is also planned to set up a scientific and cultural

library. Do not think that this is impossible! Every member shall be

required to donate at least one book. This can even be an old school

textbook, which may be of use to students who are unable to afford

them.

Formation of a

Communication committee

This committee will consists of volunteer members, who preferably

possess, among other things, mobile phones with free off-peak local

calls, to enable them to contact other members as and when necessary.

Plan

1. Announcement off the Associations formation in Arabic

Newspapers on the 10th March 1997

2. Meeting after two weeks of above announcement for members and

potential members.
Agenda of Meeting

a) Discussion of the aims of the Association
b) Suggestions by members and potential members
c) Nominations for committee members
d) Formation of the committees and the announcement of its panel

members

nomination of the President and the Board of Governors of the

Association. Final date to be fixed.

12 weeks of each committee’s, according to plan of work.

5. There shall be regular meetings each fortnight between each

committee, the president and the Board of Governors during the first 12

weeks, after-which, meeting dates shall be fixe date the end of each

meeting.
