Community Education Coordinator

MRC is a friendly, innovative community based organization working across London with migrant and refugees.
The Community Education Worker will be responsible for the development of a dynamic, effective and participative community education centre which includes a UK Online Centre, ESOL provision, crèche facilities, Access to English Courses, ESOL mentoring and community education projects. The post holder will be part of the MRC Management Team. Experience in community education and community development, of working with migrants and refugees, of supporting volunteers necessary. Experience of managing staff and project development an advantage.

Access to English Coordinator
£27,624 Pro rata 17.5 hours per week. Some evening and weekend work.
The worker will help migrants/refugees learn about the English social and political system by developing and running “Access to English and England courses”; support ESOL volunteers (teachers/mentors/online centre volunteers) in delivering English Language learning, and support ESOL elements of project based learning as part of an exciting community education project. Knowledge of the British system, ESOL qualifications at a diploma level and at least 3 years of teaching experience necessary.

This is new and exciting project that aims to expand our mentoring work. It also brings together elements of mentoring with mental wellbeing, awareness raising, advocacy and outreach work in the area of learning difficulties. It also includes exciting new pilot cultural brokerage scheme where mentoring is used as a tool for improving parenting skills, educational achievement and integration.
